Job Description – Foreman Metal Building Systems Erector

Job Duties

  • Perform daily safety talks and attend safety meetings as required
  • Plan and distribute daily work plans to crew
  • Report all issues to superintendent
  • Follow required safety standards and reporting practices
  • Read and interpret pre-engineered building drawings (blue prints)
  • Determine the materials required and plan the sequence of tasks
  • Prepare material prior to assembly
  • Attaching cables/turfers to steel members and level using transits, laser levels, etc.
  • Rig hoist and move material
  • Set up of hoisting crane
  • Install fiberglass building insulation, metal cladding and standing seam roofs
  • Install insulated metal panels, windows , passage doors
  • Comply with all Tru-Steel health and safety policies and procedures and local government health safety regulations
  • Remain current in trade practices through educational opportunities while actively participating in safety training and maintaining operator tickets as required
  • Committed to traveling throughout western Canada for extended periods of time

General Job Conditions

Metal building systems erectors (Steel erectors) will travel throughout western Canada to assemble and install pre-engineered metal buildings and steel components (including overhead cranes, mezzanines, window and passage door installations, etc.). Jobs include varying sizes of commercial and industrial projects, including recreation facilities, warehouses, fabrication shops and heavy industrial projects.
